In and around Vernon

Welcome to the official Trails Capital of BC! There are several ways to explore the trails in and around Vernon. You can hike, bike, walk, meander, or sit atop a horse. Many of our trails are accessible for those exploring by wheelchair, with strollers or young children, or are looking for steadier paths. Bring the whole family and enjoy some outdoor fun as you get closer to nature.

Have a look around our trails section on the side menu to find which Vernon trails would be right for you. Many of Vernon hiking trails are accessible year round for hiking, biking and snowshoeing.

Top Vernon Trails

There are more than 50 trails to choose from in the Vernon area. We created a collection of photos, maps, and bird's eye views of some of our Top Trails. It's a great tool to help you decide which trails to explore.

As well, the Ribbons of Green offers an interactive Vernon trail map, photos of the area and short descriptions to help you find the perfect trail to explore. The Vernon Outdoors Club is also wealth of local trail knowledge - under the "Resources" tab on their site, you can find hiking, cycling, and snowshoe trail information.   

Be sure to check out the Grey Canal, a series of ten trails in and around Vernon that make up the Grey Canal Trail to pass by orchards, vineyards, ancient lava flows, and grasslands.

Trail Etiquette

  • Be mindful of other users on multi-use paths.

  • Yield to slower users.

  • When on your bike, ride on the right but leave enough room to avoid hazards.

  • Stay right, pass left.

  • When you’re walking, keep the volume on your headphones low so you can hear other people trying to pass you.

  • Always have your pets on a leash when exploring our trails.

Okanagan Rail Trail

Explore the Okanagan Rail Trail with a leisurely ride along the water. This spectacular lakefront route is 52 km of rail grade trail that can be accessed at many points along the corridor.

Skiing

Enjoy world-class skiing at SilverStar Mountain Resort and Sovereign Lake Nordic Centre. Trail maps for downhill and cross-country skiing and snowshoeing options can be found on their websites.
