In and around Vernon you will discover some of the finest natural rock climbing in the region. Multiple nearby areas offer a range of challenging crags and bouldering routes set amongst spectacular views.

Vernon is a year-round climbing destination. From spring through fall you can enjoy exploring short-pitch climbs and bouldering routes in nearby Ellison Provincial Park and Cougar Canyon, or journey beyond to the out-of-this world Aberdeen Columns.

Come winter, the Rock Garden Climbing Centre will give you that climbing-fix till spring comes back around.

Outdoor Climbing

Spend a day trying new bouldering routes or enjoying short pitch climbs while discovering the natural beauty surrounding Vernon. Ellison Provincial Park and Cougar Canyon in the Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park offer a variety of climbs.

For a little longer cruise out of town, head out to the Aberdeen Columns, just 45 minutes from Vernon. Unique rock features, polygonal basalt originating from volcanic activity, and 22 metres of vertical, make this area feel like you've reached another planet.

Indoor Climbing

Challenge yourself in the safety and comfort of Vernon's first and only indoor climbing facility. The Rock Garden Climbing Centre is the best spot for variety, fun, local climbing info, and camaraderie. The 4000+ square foot Rock Garden is air conditioned, centrally located, and offers a wide variety of challenges for every level of climber.
