Theatres
Nothing transports you out of your seat and into a new state of mind like the theatre. Vernon is proud to have thriving and diverse performing arts venues that are deeply rooted in our community.
From one of the top performing arts centres in the region, to small historic town theatres, to immersive outdoor performance-theatre under the stars, to a good-old drive-in movie theatre, Vernon's performing arts scene truly has something for everyone.
Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre
As one of the greatest performing arts centres in the Okanagan Valley, VDPAC is dedicated to fostering live entertainment in all its forms for the benefit of the citizens and visitors of the Vernon. Where musical concerts, comedians, ballets, and budding thespians abound, you’re sure to find a performance you’ll love.
The Towne Theatre
For nearly 100 years, the people of Vernon have walked through the doors of this historic establishment in search of entertainment, and for nearly 100 years, the Towne Theatre has delivered. Awarded top independent theatre in Canada by studio/distributor and industry representatives, this historic theatre shows classic favourites, indie films, local films, comedy shows and live music performances.
Caravan Farm Theatre
Set on an 80 acre farm in nearby Armstrong, the Caravan Farm Theatre is a world leader in large-scale outdoor theatre production. Try an immersive audio experience amongst the sunflowers, participate in a spectacular holiday theatrical journey, catch a film festival in the farm-fresh air, or experience a usual, or unusual Caravan Farm Theatre summer show.
Powerhouse Theatre
Walking into the historic Powerhouse Theatre is an experience in and of itself. A step inside the small community theatre is like a step back in time. Draped in crimson and gold and appointed with 200+ red velvet seats, it’s the perfect place to catch a local performance.
Starlight Drive-In
Drive back into a simpler time when flash bulbs popped and films premiering at the drive in Friday night are all anyone talked about on Saturday. When the sun goes down, the projector clicks on and you can enjoy a modern flick in the good old-fashioned way. Grab some sodas and popcorn from the concession stand, sneak an arm around your partner and enjoy a show at the Starlight Drive-In.
