Creativity & Culture Collide: The 3-day Immersive Vernon Experience
Strolling through Vernon you will find yourself immersed in a vibrant arts and culture scene. Plan your days exploring the galleries, theatres, museums, and nature centres that inspire the mind and body to wander.
Day 1
Start your trip with breakfast at one of our best kept local secrets: Friesen’s Countrytyme Garden.
Next, book a guided tour of the Kalamalka Garden to learn about the syilx Okanagan People and their connection to the land, the uses of traditional plants, and to gain an understanding of syilx ceremony, traditions, and oral history.
To round out the day, book tickets in advance for the latest show at the Powerhouse Theatre or the Vernon & District Performing Arts Centre.
Day 2
Enjoy an easy morning perusing our historic downtown and then head to brunch at Ratio Coffee and Restaurant, located next to one of the historic murals that tell the stories of Vernon’s past. Guided tours are available through the Vernon Museum and Archives, Tuesdays and Fridays during the summer.
Next, head to the Caetani Centre to learn about the secrets and rumours of the past that have plagued the heritage house and view Sveva Caetani’s recapitulation series of art in the gallery. The Centre has limited operating hours, please check in advance before heading over.
End the day with a concert on the lawn at Mackie Lake House or a show at the Vernon Jazz Club.
Day 3
Check out the Vernon Public Art Gallery and Gallery Vertigo for latest exhibits.
Take a walk on a section of the Grey Canal Trail near the Silver Star Foothills and Swan Lake East, it was the Grey Canal irrigation system that kept the orchards alive in the past.
Finally, if you’ve found inspiration in our little arts hub, let your own creativity flow with a class at the Vernon Community Arts Centre. Check out popular Clay and Cabernet nights, and sip local wine while you make art.
