Summer Bucket List for Families

  1. Step back in time with a visit to the Historic O'Keefe Ranch. Introduce the kids to Razzle the zebu (a resident domestic cow) and his girlfriend, April. Enjoy a treat from the general store, tour the mansion and explore the grounds.
  2. Go for a walk in the grasslands, measure your wingspan in the Interpretive Centre and learn about Okanagan Okie (the Centre's mascot - a yellow bellied marmot) at Allan Brooks Nature Centre.
  3. Take the family to the Rock Garden Climbing Center where they can improve their climbing skills on over 4,000 vertical square feet. They have a variety of options for every level of climber.
  4. Inspire your little artists with a day at the Vernon Community Arts Centre. There are lots of great classes for kids to play with clay, paint, glass work and more!
  5. Challenge your family and work together as a team to solve the clues at Beyond Belief Escape Rooms.  There are six different theme rooms to choose from, including Wizard's Academy (a Harry Potter themed room).

According to our local experts, the best beaches for families must have a playground and washrooms. Check out a few of our favourite beaches with these amenities and more:

If you're heading to the beach, why not bring a picnic lunch and spend the whole day? For the perfect picnic full of local treats: Wedge Cheesery, Yankee Flats Meats, Hot Bread Shoppe, Olive Us, and Davison Orchards should be on your shopping list.
